Beris trudges through labwork and Boston winters with one goal: get to sleep. His dreams exist in another world where he's a captain of a cargo ship, with a crew of aliens he fits with better than people in the waking world. When he takes on a mysterious passenger in the dream world, everyone there starts getting sick, but as the illness crosses to the waking world Beris rushes between both to stop the disease before the people he cares for dies. Which leaves him with just one question:
